We all know that sometimes you just need a fresh start. With Timeline Genius, deleting and restarting a timeline or checklist is simple and quick. However, keep in mind that this feature is only available for timelines or checklists created as part of a subscription. If your timeline or checklist was generated from a 5-pack credit, deletion and restarting are not permitted to ensure fair usage.
Here's how to hit the reset button when you need a do-over!
Steps to Delete and Restart a Timeline or Checklist
Open the timeline or checklist you want to reset.
Click on "Timeline Actions" (or "Checklist Actions" for checklists) at the top of your screen.
Click "Delete" from the dropdown menu.
A prompt will ask, "Are you sure you want to permanently delete the [timeline/checklist] for the event '[EVENT NAME]'?" Click "Yes" to confirm.
And voilà! Your timeline or checklist will be permanently deleted, and you can start fresh with a blank slate.
Important Notes:
Permanent Deletion for Customers: Once deleted, the timeline or checklist cannot be recovered by you or any teammates on your account. Only a Timeline Genius support team member can restore a deleted timeline from the backend. Make sure you're ready to part ways before clicking "Yes."
Accidentally Deleted a Timeline?
Don't panic — all hope is not lost! While you cannot restore a deleted timeline yourself, our support team may be able to recover it for you. Here's what to do:
Contact us using the chat widget or by emailing support@timelinegenius.com.
Provide the name of the deleted event (or the client/couple's name) so our team can locate it on the backend.
Our team will confirm if the timeline is recoverable and restore it for you as quickly as possible.
Note: Teammates on the same account are not able to restore deleted timelines — this can only be done by a Timeline Genius support team member.
So go ahead, take a deep breath — we've got you! 😊
Deleted Individual Timeline Items?
Important: Our support team can only restore an entire deleted timeline — we are not able to restore individual timeline items that were deleted within an event.
If you accidentally deleted items within a timeline (rather than deleting the whole timeline), here's what we recommend:
Check any previously downloaded PDFs of the timeline — these are your best reference for re-adding the missing items manually.
Check your email for any PDF versions you sent to clients or vendors.
Check with your clients or vendors — they may have a copy of a previously shared version.
This is a great reminder to download a PDF copy of your timeline regularly as a backup, especially before making large changes! 📄
