Our Timeline Reuse feature has been enhanced to make event planning even more efficient. When you generate a new timeline or checklist from an existing one, any date range from the original event will automatically be preserved in the new timeline or checklist. This saves time and ensures consistency across your multi-day events.
How the Timeline Reuse Feature Works
When you reuse a previous timeline or checklist to create a new one, the system will set the new date range based on the number of days in the original date range. Here's how it behaves:
If the Original Timeline Has a Date Range:
The end date for the new timeline or checklist will be calculated to maintain the same number of days as in the original date range.
Example: If the original timeline has a date range from January 5, 2025, to January 8, 2025 (a 3-day range), and you set the new event’s start date as March 15, 2025, the new date range will be March 15, 2025, to March 18, 2025.
If the Original Timeline Does NOT Have an End Date:
The new timeline or checklist will also not have an end date. The start date will be set as specified, and there will be no end date.
Steps to Reuse a Timeline or Checklist
Select the Original Timeline or Checklist:
Go to the event you want to reuse and click on the option to generate a new timeline or checklist from it.
Enter the New Start Date:
Input the desired start date for your new event.
Date Range Calculation:
If the original event had an end date, the system will calculate the end date to preserve the same date range.
If there was no end date, the new timeline or checklist will not have an end date either.
Example Scenarios
Reusing a Timeline with a Date Range:
Original Date Range: January 5, 2025, to January 8, 2025 (3 days)
New Start Date: March 15, 2025
Resulting Date Range: March 15, 2025, to March 18, 2025
Reusing a Timeline without an End Date:
Original Date: January 5, 2025 (no end date)
New Start Date: March 15, 2025
Resulting Date: March 15, 2025 (still no end date)
Benefits of This Feature
Efficiency: Automatically sets the correct date range, reducing manual adjustments.
Consistency: Ensures multi-day events maintain their duration when reusing timelines or checklists.
