If you’ve shared a collaborator link with your client, vendor, or wedding party and they’re unable to open it, here’s the most common cause (and the quick fix!).
🔍 The Issue
Collaborator links require that the collaborator has an email address saved in Timeline Genius.
Here’s why:
When you make a comment or update, Timeline Genius is designed to automatically send that collaborator an email notification.
If their email address isn’t saved in the system, those updates can’t be delivered.
Because of this, the collaborator link will not work if the email address is missing or removed.
So, if a collaborator’s email is deleted after the link is created, the link will stop working — even if you shared it outside of Timeline Genius (for example, by copying and pasting into your own message).
✅ The Fix
To make sure collaborator links work every time:
Double-check that each collaborator (client, vendor, or wedding party member) has an email address saved in their contact profile.
Do not remove the collaborator’s email address after sending the invite or collaborator link.
If you’ve already removed the email, simply re-add it to their profile, then re-send the collaborator link.
💡 Pro Tip
Always use the built-in Share or Collaborator Invite options in Timeline Genius when possible. This ensures the correct link is automatically sent and tracked.
If you prefer to copy and paste the link into your own message, just make sure the collaborator’s email stays saved in their profile.
🚀 Quick Recap
Collaborator links won’t work without an email saved in the system.
Emails are required so Timeline Genius can notify collaborators of updates or comments.
Removing the email after sending breaks the link.
Re-adding the email + resending the link fixes the issue.
