Create Page Breaks Within Timeline Items

Using Page Breaks to Create Professional, Customized Timelines

TimelineGenius offers two complementary Page Break features that let you control exactly how your timeline PDFs are formatted for clients. You can use them individually or combine them for fully customized, professional-looking results.

Overview

There are two types of page breaks available:

  1. Timeline Item Page Break (new) – inserts a page break within a timeline, after a specific timeline item.

  2. Section Page Break (existing) – inserts a page break before a specific section (e.g., Items to Remember, Client Contacts, Vendor Contacts).

Used together, these tools give you full control over how your timeline flows across pages in the exported PDF.

Feature 1: Timeline Item Page Break

This is TimelineGenius's newest feature. It allows you to insert a page break directly within your list of timeline items, so a chosen item is the last one on a page and the next item starts a new page.

How to use it:

  1. Click on the timeline item after which you want the page break to occur (e.g., the 12:45 PM item).

  2. In the item details panel, locate the scissors icon labeled My Page Break.

  3. Select it to insert the page break.

  4. Click Done to save.

Result: The next timeline item (e.g., 1:15 PM) will now begin on a new page in your exported PDF.

Feature 2: Section Page Break

This existing feature lets you insert page breaks before entire sections, such as Items to Remember, Client Contacts, Wedding Party Contacts, Venue Contacts and Guidelines, or Vendor Contacts.

How to use it:

  1. Go to Timeline Actions.

  2. Select Reorder Sections.

  3. Use the checkboxes next to each section to indicate where you want a page break to occur before that section.

  4. Click Save.

Example setup:

  • Keep Client Contacts, Wedding Party Contacts, Venue Contacts, and Guidelines together on the same page.

  • Give Vendor Contacts its own separate page.

Combining Both Features

You can use Timeline Item Page Breaks and Section Page Breaks together for maximum control over your PDF layout.

Example result when combined:

  • Page 1: Timeline items up to 12:45 PM

  • Page 2: Timeline items starting at 1:15 PM (set via the Timeline Item Page Break)

  • Page 3: Items to Remember

  • Page 4: Client Contacts

  • Page 5: Venue Contacts and Venue Guidelines

  • Page 6: Vendor Contacts

How to Preview Your Changes

  1. Go to Timeline Actions.

  2. Select Preview.

  3. Confirm your page breaks appear as expected before sharing the final PDF with your client.
